Women’s health services we offer:
There are numerous contraception options to choose from including the Pill, Implanon rod, copper IUD’s, Mirena and Kyleena. Finding the right contraception can seem daunting although it doesn’t have to be that way with a trusted women’s health doctor by your side.
We can share advice on the benefits and drawbacks of each choice, helping you to select the one that aligns best with your medical history and lifestyle.
Looking for a welcoming place to address sexual health concerns? We are ready to support you, no matter your age or stage in life— post-menopause, married, single, a mother, young adult, or teenager.
We understand discussing sexual health can be sensitive, but rest assured, your privacy is our top concern. It’s crucial for your physical and mental well-being to promptly address and manage any sexual health issues, to maintain an active sex life and prevent conditions that could harm fertility or lead to chronic pelvic pain.
Mirena IUD is a reliable and long-acting form of contraception, giving you control over your reproductive health with the added benefit of reversibility should your plans change.
The process to place an IUD is a simple in-clinic procedure, where the device is gently placed through the cervix into its position. Once the insertion is complete, we’ll take a moment to ensure you’re feeling well, with a period of observation in the familiarity of our clinic. When the time comes for Mirena removal, we are here to support you through that as well.
Implanon is a tiny plastic rod, delicately placed just under the skin of your inner arm. Its role is to gradually release progestogen into your body, offering a remarkable 99.9% effectiveness in preventing pregnancy for up to three years. The procedure for both inserting and removing Implanon is straightforward and performed with care, ensuring your comfort and well-being at every step.
Whether you’re considering Implanon as your chosen method of contraception or it’s time for removal, we’re here to support you through the process with empathy and expertise.
It’s common to face mental health challenges at times in our lives. When you need support, your GP is a great first point of contact. We’re ready to listen, understand, and guide you, whether it’s through a heartfelt conversation or referring you to a specialist who can help further.
We can also help you with a Mental Health Care Plan. This plan supports you by covering part of the costs for up to 20 therapy sessions a year through Medicare which means getting the professional support you need can be more affordable.
A vital test in safeguarding your health, cervical screening (previously known as a pap smear) is a powerful tool in the early detection of cervical cancer. We are here to provide a reassuring, gentle experience, ensuring you feel supported and at ease throughout your visit.
For privacy and comfort in cervical screening, a self-collect option is now available for eligible women. To collect your screening sample, you’ll use a special swab, similar to an elongated cotton bud. This process is conducted in a private area, offering you the privacy you deserve, be it behind a screen or in a bathroom.
Your healthcare provider will equip you with instructions to ensure the sample collection is successful. Following the collection, your sample will be sent to a laboratory for analysis. Your GP will communicate how and when you’ll receive your results.
Menopause is a natural part of aging that happens when the ovaries slow down their production of estrogen, the hormone that plays a key role in many aspects of women’s health. While it typically starts between the ages of 45 and 55, some women may go through what’s called ‘premature menopause’ before the age of 40. For some, the transition comes with little to no discomfort. Others, however, may find perimenopause and menopause challenging, experiencing a range of symptoms that can affect quality of life for years.
Being in tune with your body is crucial, especially as you approach menopause. Hormonal changes can start long before menopause officially begins, and understanding these signs early on can help you manage them more effectively. We’re here to support you through this journey, helping you feel cared for during this transition. Remember, you’re not alone, and it’s important to us that you feel heard when it comes to the symptoms of menopause.
Women often experience a range of hormonal changes that can sometimes hide the symptoms of more serious chronic health issues like cancer, heart disease, or depression. Symptoms of these diseases can look a lot like those from hormonal imbalances related to stages such as perimenopause.
Having a good relationship with your GP is crucial. We can help identify whether your symptoms are hormonal or if they suggest a more serious condition. You’ll be guided and supported through all the necessary steps, including referring you to specialists if needed.
